Saturday Night 1990

July 18th, 2010

He handed me a shiny white porcelain kitten.

The kind that you would find on the mantle of your granny’s fireplace

The kind that my inner punk rocker would like to smash with a sledge hammer

Shiny, virginal white

All tied up nicely with a pink ribbon around its neck

All tied up

My date, the Puerto Rican Jew

All sugar and spice

Filled with leather and vice

Most men bring flowers

He brought the shiny porcelain kitten

It was a pair

And he owned the other one
